Stakeholder mapping is a technique for plotting the people involved in your project or initiative on a grid of influence versus interest. The result is a clear picture of who needs to be in the room, who should be briefed regularly, and who simply needs a written update after the fact.
This tool helps you build that map visually. Add your stakeholders, rate their influence and interest on a scale of 1 to 5, and the builder will place them on a colour-coded 2x2 matrix. You will also get a ready-made attendance recommendation you can share with your team. Everything runs locally in your browser and nothing is stored or sent to a server.
These are your most important stakeholders. They have both the power to affect outcomes and a strong interest in the results. They must attend key meetings and be actively involved in decisions. Engage them early, seek their input frequently, and ensure they are never surprised by developments.
These stakeholders wield significant authority but are not deeply engaged day-to-day. Brief them regularly with concise updates. Invite them to milestone reviews and escalation meetings, but avoid overwhelming them with operational detail. A short, focused briefing is more effective than a long status call.
Enthusiastic supporters or affected parties who care deeply but lack decision-making power. Share meeting notes, progress reports, and key outcomes. They rarely need to attend live meetings, but keeping them in the loop builds goodwill and can surface useful ground-level insights.
These stakeholders require minimal engagement. Send them periodic async updates and keep an eye on whether their influence or interest changes over time. Avoid pulling them into meetings unnecessarily, as it wastes their time and yours.
